About this Tool

Use a graphic tablet and stylus pen to draw while recording with Screencast-o-matic, just like you'd draw on your classroom whiteboard to call the students' attention to specific information.

Check out these two example videos created by SRJC instructors:

The first example is hosted on the Screencast-o-matic website. To view it, follow this link and enter the password GEOL11. The video was created by an SRJC instructor using a Wacom table, Sketchbook Pro software, and the Screencast-o-matic recorder.
The second video is embedded below. It was recorded by an SRJC instructor using the Office Mix add-on for PowerPoint and a Wacom tablet. The instructor saved it as an MP4 file, uploaded it into Canvas using the Rich Content Editor, and captioned it himself with the Amara subtitle creation tool. How to use in Canvas

Save your recording as an MP4 video and upload it for storing, captioning, and sharing in 3CMedia: Captioning, storage, and sharing service.

Creative ideas

If you're a Photoshop user, take advantage of the Layers panel. Prepare drawings or images on separate layers in advance, and then show and hide layers during your screen recording.

Who doesn't love time-lapsed drawing? Check out MinutePhysics, an educational YouTube channel created by Henry Reich that includes time-lapsed drawing. You can speed up or slow down video segments using Screencast-o-matic.
